How to get more nutrition out of the food you are already eating
A study was conducted back in 2009 and it was reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
What they were looking at was eating almonds, specifically. They had people, because it was a crossover study, the individuals would have to do multiple things. So, they would either have to chew the almonds that they were given 10 times and then later they were to chew almonds 25 times and another time they were to chew their almonds 40 times. What they discovered was very interesting. You actually become fuller when you chew your food more and it actually lasts longer than if you chew, just even 25 times. What's also incredible is that they were looking at the amount of uptake of one particular nutrient in these almonds and what they discovered was that those who chewed their food 40 times actually took up more of that nutrient in the almonds that they were eating. So, it's not a difference in what food you're eating, but it's how much nutrition are you getting out of the food that you are actually putting in your mouth. So, if you want to get the most out of the food that you eat and you want to be more likely to be slim and trim, chew you food more, but to get as much nutrition out of it as possible, you want to thoroughly masticate or thoroughly chew the food that you are already eating.
