World Record Strength on a Plant Based Diet

Carrying over 1200 pounds without meat.

Do you have to be weak and skinny if you eat only plants? Is it possible to get all the muscle you could ever desire on a plant based diet. One man proves that it is possible to break power lifting strength records without animal based foods.

I’m going to begin today with a quotation from a book called, Life and Health. It says, “Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables...impart strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.” (Life and Health July 1, 1905 par. 5) Can you actually be strong while eating plants? Is it true that you have to get your protein from animal products in order to be strong? Many people believe this. Now, not everybody who eats plants has to be super skinny. Many people are because it’s easier to keep weight off and to be fit and trim as a plant-based eater, but is this the only way? Is meat eating the only way to be strong? Now, Patrik Baboumian is a German and he was, for a time, the strongest man in Germany. And, not long ago he broke the world record by carrying the yolk walk where literally you yolk a man up kind of like an oxen, really you’re lifting up on your shoulders heavy weights and walking with it. Patrik was able to carry over 1200 pounds for over 30 feet and he broke the world record in doing so and when he finished, he yelled out “vegan power.” I have to let you know that somebody came along and they broke his record not long after that...it was actually Patrik himself, he broke it again. He is one of the strongest men on planet earth and he only eats plants. The reality is that you can gain the protein and all the strength that you need from a plant based diet and reap all of the other health benefits at the very same time.
